Wooden Floor Sanding Muswell Hill London
We were asked by the hall committee to sand, re-seal and apply one badminton court in white.
This lovely youth centre in Mussel Hill, London was being cleaned and maintained using Bourne Seal and had been for the last 20+ years. Bourne seal is a solvent based wood sealer which is heat, stain, oil and water resistant which sounds good if it is applied in moderation. The main problem was that due to the amount of coats of Bourne Seal the floor had begun to cup in most areas leaving a rippled effect. As per the picture the other main issue was that a previous flooring company had attempted to sand the floor in various directions leaving unsightly drum sander marks. To remove the Bourne Seal we needed to sand the floor from 24 grit. To remove the rippled effect the floor needed to be sanded diagonally. Once the floor was clean we proceeded to create a fine finish by abrading the floor using a mesh screen disc. The floor was thoroughly vacuumed before applying one coat of Junckers solvent based Baseprime primer. Once dry we applied the badminton court in white using Junckers Sportsline paint. The floor and lines were finally protected using Junckers High Performance Sport water based polyurethane lacquer. The whole hall was left looking lighter and more pleasant for hirers and committee members alike.
“Conrad sanded, treated and laid new badminton lines on our sprung hall floor after 45 years of pounding from local youth and community. “Now it looks just like satin” one of our badminton players said. It’s transformed from a dingy dark orange shade with yellow lines to a light wood with clear white lines. The cost was way better than quotes we got from big companies. The whole job was handled so smoothly with no strain on us and Conrad’s knowledge and pleasant manner was a bonus. If there was another star on the rating Conrad would get that too.
