This floor had many years of wear and tear leaving it bare in many areas down to the wood. With no cleaning regime in place drink spillages, food and general dirt from outside was penetrating into the wood and causing it to mark. The restaurant owner wanted his floor looking clean again as part of a refurbishment to the whole restaurant. We suggested an oil finish as it is easy to rectify should the finish wear down to the bare wood again and it is also easy to maintain which was equally important to the owner.
Flooring Works: Floor sand and Junckers Rustic Oil application
We sanded the wooden flooring using our Lagler Hummel drum sander, finishing on a 100 grit sand paper. The floor was then thoroughly abraded with a 100 grit mesh screen disc. After this we vacuumed and tack mopped the floor to ensure all dust residue was removed from the surface. We applied the Junckers Rustic Oil using a Bona maintenance mop and Bona Cleaning pad. We buffed the oil into the wooden flooring using our buffing machine with a red contractor pad. The oil was left to sink into the wood before we took the excess oil off with a lint free oil cloth. The wood oil takes approximately 8 hours to dry after which we applied another coat of Junckers Rustic Oil as previously stated.
